Cheapest Futures Prop Firms: The True Cost of Getting Funded

Compare the cheapest futures prop firms and uncover the true cost of getting funded, including evaluation fees, resets, activation costs, and payout rules.

Cheapest Futures Prop Firms: The True Cost of Getting Funded

What if the cheapest futures prop firm you find ends up costing more than an option with a higher starting price?

A $49 evaluation may look affordable until you discover a $130 activation fee waiting after you pass. With the addition of monthly subscriptions or a few account resets, your initial budget can quickly double or triple.

Unfortunately, these extra charges are easy to overlook when comparing prop firms based on their advertised prices.

In this guide, we examine five affordable futures prop firms, including Goat Funded Futures (GFF), to uncover what getting funded actually costs.

Evaluation fees, activation charges, reset prices, and instant funding options are broken down to help you avoid unnecessary expenses.

What Does "Cheap" Really Mean for a Futures Prop Firm?

A cheap plan is not only a low first price. The true cost has 4 parts, and to find the cheapest futures prop firm, you must add them all up:

  • Entry fee: Price you pay to start an evaluation or an instant account.

  • Reset fee: Price you pay to try again after you break a rule.

  • Activation fee: An extra charge some firms add after you pass the evaluation.

  • Monthly or payout fees: Any charge you pay each month or that comes out of your payouts.

Think about two firms. The first charges $60 to start and $150 to activate your funded account, while the second charges $100 to start and nothing to activate.

You pay $210 at the first firm and $100 at the second. The second firm is cheaper, although its first price looks higher.

This is why cheap futures prop firms need a closer look because a low entry price is only the start.

Also, there is one more point to remember. A cheap futures prop firm should still have fair rules, such as a clear drawdown, clear payout rules, and no hidden charges.

If you are still weighing the cost, read our answer to the question “are futures prop firms worth it?”

Goat Funded Futures: Low Prices Across All Six Plans

At Goat Funded Futures, we keep costs simple. You pay one fee for your plan. Every plan has a $0 activation fee, and we do not charge monthly subscriptions.

You also see the price before you buy. This is why many traders call GFF the cheapest futures prop firm for getting started.

We offer 6 plans: 4 evaluations and 2 instant plans. The table below shows the price of every account size.

If you want to skip the test, Instant Lite starts at $182 for a 25K account. Among the cheapest prop firm futures plans with instant funding, this is a very low price to start.

What Do Resets Cost at GFF?

Sometimes, not every trader passes on the first try. This is normal. If you break a rule, a reset lets you try again at a price below a new plan. Plans with no time limit also help you avoid extra resets, as you never race a clock.

The 90/10 add-on is optional. It costs about 20% of the plan price, which is $21.80 on a 50K 1-Day-Pass-Plan or Flex Challenge. GOAT Daily and both instant plans include 90/10 at no extra cost. A 3% processing fee is deducted from every payout.

Each plan suits a different trader:

  • EOD Challenge: The lowest entry price. It suits traders who want a cheap start and a simple end-of-day drawdown.

  • 1-Day-Pass-Plan: No consistency rule in the evaluation, so one strong day can count in full.

  • Flex Challenge: No daily loss limit, and no consistency rule once you are funded. It suits traders who want freedom.

  • GOAT Daily: a 90/10 split from the first payout and a payout request every 24 hours after you pass.

  • Instant Classic and Instant Lite: No evaluation at all, so you start trading a simulated funded account on day one.

How should you read this table? Look at the evaluation price and the activation fee together. Topstep starts at $49, but its $149 activation fee brings a first try to $198.

GFF costs $69, with a $0 activation fee. Bulenox is the only other firm with an instant plan, and Fast Track costs $488, over twice the price of GFF Instant Lite.

  1. Goat Funded Futures (GFF): Best Overall

Goat Funded Futures

Goat Funded Futures is the cheapest futures prop firm on this list for traders who want low prices and real choice.

A 50K EOD Challenge costs $69, the lowest total cost in this guide, with a $0 activation fee. It has a 6% profit target, a $2,000 max drawdown, and no time limit.

If you want other styles, the 1-Day-Pass-Plan and Flex Challenge start at $109 for 50K, and GOAT Daily starts at $89 for a 25K account.

Each plan has a rule to help your style. For example, Flex has no daily loss limit, and GOAT Daily gives a 90/10 split from the first payout.

For instant funding, Instant Lite starts at $182, and Instant Classic starts at $192. Both skip the evaluation, and both have a $0 activation fee. Classic pays a 100% split on your first $10,000 in payouts.

Our $0 activation fee means the price you pay on day one is the full price of the plan. Pricing is clear. Every price in this guide comes from our plan pages, and our reset fees sit next to the entry fees.

The minimum payout request is $500 on every plan. You can trade CME, CBOT, COMEX, and NYMEX futures on NinjaTrader, Tradovate, Quantower, and ATAS.

All GFF accounts use simulated funding, and payouts are real. You complete KYC before your first payout.

Best for: traders who want the lowest total cost, with both evaluation and instant routes in one place.

  1. Topstep

Topstep

Topstep is one of the cheapest futures prop firms to start with. Its 50K Trading Combine costs $49 per month, and a reset costs $49.

The profit target is $3,000, and the max loss limit is $2,000. You can add an optional $1,000 daily loss limit at checkout.

The low price comes with a catch. After you pass, Topstep charges a one-time $149 activation fee for each Express Funded Account, so a first try costs $198, not $49. You can choose the No Activation Fee path, but it costs $95 per month, and a reset costs $95 as well.

Topstep pays a 90/10 split from the first dollar for accounts joined after January 12, 2026. It has no instant plan, so you must pass the Combine first. Our EOD Challenge costs $129 less on a first try, with a $0 activation fee.

Best for: traders who want a low monthly price and a 90/10 split.

  1. Bulenox

Bulenox

Bulenox currently has a one-time price, as it dropped monthly subscriptions in August 2026. Its Momentum plan lists at $143 for a 50K account, with a $3,000 profit target and a $2,250 max drawdown.

The activation fee is $0 after you pass. The daily loss limit is $1,200, and you have 30 days to finish the evaluation.

The older Qualification plan lists at $175 and adds a $148 activation fee, so the full cost is $323. Bulenox also sells Fast Track, an instant route, at $488 for 50K. Fast Track has a 20% consistency rule on the first withdrawal, and it has no resets.

Bulenox gives you a real instant option, which is good. Still, Fast Track costs $259, above GFF Instant Lite at $229. Momentum also has a 30-day limit, while our EOD Challenge has none.

Best for: traders who want one-time fees and an instant route.

  1. TradeDay

TradeDay

Similar to GFF, TradeDay is a popular pick for traders who search for the cheapest prop firm futures plans without activation fees.

Its Quick Pay Intraday plan lists at $131 per month for a 50K account, and Quick Pay EOD lists at $175.

Both have a $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 trailing max drawdown. TradeDay says all accounts are monthly subscriptions with no activation fee.

The Intraday plan uses an intraday drawdown, and the EOD plan uses an end-of-day drawdown.

You must trade at least 5 days, and no single day can go above 30% of your profit in the evaluation. There is no daily loss limit. TradeDay has no instant plan, so you must pass an evaluation first.

Monthly billing means a slow evaluation adds another $131 each month. Our EOD Challenge costs $62 less on a first try and has no monthly fee.

Best for: traders who want to skip activation fees and pay month by month.

  1. Take Profit Trader

Take Profit Trader

Take Profit Trader, also called TPT, has a simple plan list. Its 50K Test costs $170 per month, with a $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 end-of-day trailing drawdown.

A Test reset costs $99. During the test, your best day must stay below 50% of your total profit.

After you pass, you pay a $130 activation fee to open a PRO account, although promo codes can remove it. PRO pays 80/20, and the 90/10 PRO+ level is by invitation.

Withdrawals of $250 or less cost a $50 fee. PRO accounts have no monthly fee after activation, but TPT has no instant plan.

Your first attempt costs $300 with the activation fee. The GFF EOD Challenge costs $231 less on a first try, with no monthly fee and no activation fee.

Best for: traders who want a clear plan list and accept a $130 activation fee.

How the Cost Adds Up After Resets

Some cheap prop firms futures traders choose look great at first, but resets can add up fast. So here is a simple test. Say you fail the first try and reset twice. How much do you spend in total?

The table shows the 50K evaluation at 3 firms with published reset fees, and it includes activation fees.

Firm and plan

First try

After 1 reset

After 2 resets

GFF EOD Challenge

$69

$128

$187

Topstep Combine

$198

$247

$296

Take Profit Trader Test

$300

$399

$498

After two resets, the GFF plan costs $109 below Topstep and $311 below Take Profit Trader. Topstep also gives one free reset credit with each monthly rebill, so its real total can be lower. This does not mean you should expect to fail. It shows why reset fees matter. The cheapest futures prop firm is the one with the lowest total cost, not the lowest first price.

If you want to avoid resets, an instant plan has no evaluation to fail. You still need to respect the drawdown, so manage your risk on every trade.

Simple Ways to Keep Your Costs Low

Looking for the cheapest future prop firm for your budget? You can control your costs. These five tips help you spend less and trade smarter.

  1. Start with a smaller account: A 25K or 50K account costs less, and its rules are easier to manage while you learn.

  1. Read the reset fee before you buy: Low entry fees with a high reset fee can cost more in the end.

  1. Check activation and monthly fees: Some firms add them after you pass. Read our list of futures prop firms with no activation fees to avoid surprise charges.

  1. Look at the payout rules: Low prices do not help if payouts are hard to reach. Check the payout target, the minimum payout, and any processing fee.

  1. Compare list prices first: Prices at cheap prop firms futures traders like can change within days, so compare list prices, then check for sales.
