Prop Firm Profit Split Explained: 80/20, 90/10 and 100% of the First $10K
Learn how prop firm profit splits work, including 80/20, 90/10 and 100% of the first $10K. Review payout rules and what each split means for your earnings.

A $1,000 profit on your funded account does not always mean $1,000 in your pocket. Under an 80/20 arrangement, you keep $800, while the firm receives $200. At 90/10, your share increases to $900. Some plans go further by allowing you to keep 100% of your first $10,000 in profits.
Your profit split percentages determine how much you receive, but a higher percentage does not always mean a better deal. Upgrade fees, payout conditions, and the duration of each arrangement also influence your earnings.
Goat Funded Futures (GFF) offers six funding plans with different payout arrangements. Knowing how these percentages work, what the 90/10 upgrade costs, and how much you can withdraw will help you choose the right plan.
What a split means in plain terms
A profit split is the share of every payout you keep, while the firm holds on to the rest.
At 80/20, you keep 80%, and GFF keeps 20%.
At 90/10, you keep 90% and GFF keeps 10%.
The split applies to the profit you request, and the minimum request on every plan is $500. Your funded accounts are simulated, but the payouts are real money.
Before you compare any rates, it helps to know how prop firm payouts work.
First, you meet the payout requirements of your plan. Next, you submit a request through your dashboard. GFF then applies the split to the approved amount and deducts a 3% processing fee from every payout to cover payment and transaction costs.
What gets to your account is the result of both steps, so always read a headline split together with the fee.
The 3 structures side by side
Futures prop firms generally use three payout structures: 80/20, 90/10, and 100% of profits up to a specified amount. Each determines how much you can withdraw and how much the firm keeps.
With an 80/20 profit split, you receive $80 for every $100 earned. A 90/10 arrangement increases your share to $90, while the third structure lets you keep 100% of your initial profits, usually up to $10,000, before switching to 90/10.
At GFF, we offer all three structures across our funding plans.
The table below compares your take-home amount on a $1,000 payout and $12,000 in cumulative profits.
Structure | Your share of a $1,000 request | Arrives after the 3% fee | Your share of $12,000 in payouts (before fee) |
80/20 | $800 | $776 | $9,600 |
90/10 | $900 | $873 | $10,800 |
100% on the first $10,000, then 90/10 | $1,000 | $970 | $11,800 |
Six plans, six ways the split is set up
Each of our plans has a clear profit split upfront. Here is the default split, how to reach 90/10, and when payouts open on each plan.
Plan | Default split | Route to 90/10 | When payouts open |
EOD Challenge | 80/20 | 90/10 add-on | After 7 winning days |
1-Day-Pass-Plan | 80/20 | 90/10 add-on | After 5 winning days |
Flex Challenge | 80/20 | 90/10 add-on | After 5 winning days |
GOAT Daily | 90/10 from the first payout | Included, nothing to buy | 24 hours after your first funded trade, then every 24 hours |
Instant Classic | 100% on the first $10,000, then 90/10 | Built-in, applies after the first $10,000 | After 7 winning days, 10 calendar days, and 7% account growth |
Instant Lite | 90/10 from the first payout | Included, nothing to buy | Once the first payout target and consistency rule are met |
The 80/20 plans and the 90/10 upgrade
EOD Challenge, 1-Day-Pass-Plan and Flex Challenge pay 80/20 by default. If you want 90/10 on any of them, you can add the 90/10 profit share add on when you buy the challenge. It is optional and costs 20% of the challenge price.
Payouts only begin on a funded account, so the upgrade moves your profit split from 80/20 to 90/10 starting with your first request.
On the 1-Day-Pass-Plan, an add-on bought with your challenge carries over to the funded account automatically, so you do not pay for it twice. Traders who skip it are paid at 80/20.
The add-on cost grows with the challenge you pick. The figures below reflect current pricing (which changes with promotions, so confirm the amount at checkout)
Plan | Account size | Challenge price | Add-on cost (20%) |
1-Day-Pass-Plan | 25K | $79 | $15.80 |
1-Day-Pass-Plan | 50K | $109 | $21.80 |
1-Day-Pass-Plan | 100K | $179 | $35.80 |
EOD Challenge | 50K | $69 | $13.80 |
EOD Challenge | 100K | $132 | $26.40 |
EOD Challenge | 150K | $185 | $37.00 |
Flex Challenge | 50K | $109 | $21.80 |
Flex Challenge | 100K | $169 | $33.80 |
Flex Challenge | 150K | $309 | $61.80 |
So what does the upgrade return?
The table below shows the extra cash on a first request at the maximum cap, for the 50K size of each plan, before the 3% processing fee.
50K plan | Maximum first request | At 80/20 | With the add-on | Extra per request |
EOD Challenge | $1,500 | $1,200 | $1,350 | $150 |
1-Day-Pass-Plan | $1,500 | $1,200 | $1,350 | $150 |
Flex Challenge | $2,000 | $1,600 | $1,800 | $200 |
On a Flex 50K, the extra $200 per request is over nine times the $21.80 price of the 90/10 profit share add on, and the same gap repeats with every later request.
Keep the request limits in mind as well: you can request up to 50% of your available profit on these three plans, subject to a cap by account size and payout number.
The rest stays in the account to support your equity into the next payout cycle. On Flex, the 50% and the cap are measured before the split is applied.
Plans with 90/10 built in
If you want 90/10 without buying anything extra, two plans include it.
GOAT Daily pays 90/10 from your first payout. Once you pass the one-phase evaluation, you can request a payout 24 hours after your first funded trade, and then every 24 hours, with no winning day count and no fixed windows.
Each request is capped by account size, from $650 on the 25K to $2,500 on the 150K, and a profit buffer stays in the account. On a 50K, a $1,000 request becomes $900 after the split, and $873 after the 3% processing fee.
Instant Lite also pays 90/10 from the first payout, with nothing to add. It skips the evaluation, so you trade toward a first payout target of $1,500 on the 25K, $3,000 on the 50K, and $6,500 on the 100K. Per-payout maximums run $1,000, $2,000, and $3,000 across those sizes.
How the opening 100% stretch works on Instant Classic
Instant Classic is built for traders who want 100% of the first $10K they withdraw. The account is funded from purchase with no evaluation phase, and your first $10,000 in payouts comes to you in full. Every later payout is 90/10. The structure comes with the account, so there is no add-on to buy.
Payouts are capped per cycle by account size: $1,000 on the 25K, $2,000 on the 50K, $3,000 on the 100K, and $4,000 on the 150K.
A 50K trader who takes the cap each cycle reaches 100% of the first $10K in five payouts, and the 90/10 split takes over from the sixth.
Your first payout opens after 7 winning days, at least 10 calendar days from your first trade, and 7% account growth, which is $1,750 on the 25K and rises to $10,500 on the 150K.
Match the split to your trading rhythm
Once you know the splits, look at how each plan pays out. The schedule is just as important as the rate, and how prop firm payouts work differs by plan.
EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, Flex, and Instant Classic take requests in two monthly windows: the 5th to 8th and the 20th to 23rd.
GOAT Daily has no windows and opens a request every 24 hours.
Each plan also limits how much of your profit can come from a single day under the consistency rule: 30% on funded EOD, 35% on funded 1-Day-Pass-Plan, 20% on Instant Classic, 15% rising to 25% on Instant Lite, and no percentage on funded Flex or GOAT Daily accounts.
With the schedule in mind, here is a quick way to pick a profit split and a starting plan:
Cash flow first: GOAT Daily pays 90/10 from the first payout and opens a request every 24 hours. The daily payout futures prop firm page explains the model in full.
Largest opening stretch: Instant Classic returns the first $10,000 in payouts at 100%.
Funded from day one at 90/10: Instant Lite skips the evaluation, and the guide to instant funding futures prop firms shows how this route works.
Lowest entry price: EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan or Flex at 80/20, with the 90/10 upgrade available when you buy the challenge.
Why this structure holds up on price
Futures prop firms tend to offer splits between 80% and 90%, and a 100% figure usually applies to a limited stretch of profit.
GFF puts the full range in one lineup: 80/20 as the entry point, 90/10 built into GOAT Daily and Instant Lite, and a full 100% opening stretch on Instant Classic.
In practice, your profit split at GFF is a pricing choice as much as a payout choice, with each structure carrying its own entry cost.
The upgrade keeps the entry price low. A trader who wants 90/10 on EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, or Flex pays 20% of the challenge price once through the 90/10 profit share add-on and keeps the extra ten points on every payout.
At current pricing, an EOD 50K starts at $69, a 1-Day-Pass-Plan 25K at $79, and a GOAT Daily 25K at $89.
Every plan has a $0 activation fee, and each purchase is a one-time fee with no monthly subscription. If you are weighing costs across firms, check out our guide on the cheapest futures prop firms and futures prop firms with no activation fees.
Choose the split to match your trading
How big a profit split do you want? Your choice of funding plan should reflect your payout expectations, trading goals, and the cost of securing a higher share.
At Goat Funded Futures, GOAT Daily and Instant Lite offer a 90/10 split from your first payout, while Instant Classic lets you keep 100% of the first $10K in payouts. EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, and Flex start at 80/20, with an optional upgrade to 90/10 for just 20% of the challenge price.
Choose the plan that fits your trading strategy, keep more of what you earn, and start your challenge today.
